Dubai Municipality engages Al Barsha residents to co-design two new parks
Al Barsha, UAE – In a continued effort to place community voices at the heart of urban development, Dubai Municipality has held an open dialogue session with residents of Al Barsha to gather direct input on the design of two upcoming parks and a central recreational space.
The on-the-ground engagement was led by Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, alongside the organization’s leadership team.
During the session, the Municipality’s Public Facilities Agency unveiled plans to develop two neighbourhood parks alongside a central recreational zone spanning more than 31,000 square feet. Residents actively shared their preferences, helping shape key design elements including:
- Safe, dedicated play areas for children
- Running tracks for athletes and fitness enthusiasts
- Family-friendly seating zones
- Dedicated cycling lanes
- Fully accessible facilities for people of determination
“Our citizens are our priority, and their voice is the foundation of any successful project,” said Bin Ghalita. “We do not just design parks on paper; we design them with the people and for the people — ensuring every individual feels the space is part of daily life and offers advanced well-being for the whole community.”
Addressing construction and urban development
The discussion also touched on ongoing construction activity in Al Barsha. Dubai Municipality provided updates on efforts to enhance building systems, regulate housing rentals, and improve accommodation standards for bachelors — all aimed at ensuring integrated and sustainable urban development in the area.
New customer experience initiatives highlighted
Municipality leaders also introduced two key initiatives designed to improve customer experience:
- The ‘Happiness Vehicle’ – A mobile service that visits citizens’ homes to complete digital transactions on the spot.
- The ‘Virtual Appointment System’ – A platform enabling direct, remote communication with Dubai Municipality leadership from anywhere.
These initiatives reflect Dubai Municipality’s commitment to combining modern technology with human-centric service delivery.
Residents of Al Barsha are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates as park designs move closer to reality.
